There’s a famous story that a local hotelier once convinced a group of British guests to return in winter, promising to refund their trip if they didn’t enjoy it. That bold bet is said to have sparked the tradition of winter tourism in the Alps, turning St. Moritz into the iconic destination it is today.
Another thing worth mentioning? The sunshine. St. Moritz enjoys around 300 days of sun per year, which explains why its terraces, rooftops, and mountain restaurants are such an essential part of the experience.

Badrutt's Palace Hotel
The legendary home of the European jet set. Overlooking the lake, this iconic hotel features ten restaurants and bars, an impressive spa with an outdoor pool, and some of the most glamorous events of the winter season. My favourite après-ski ritual? Champagne at the Renaissance Bar.
Kulm Hotel St. Moritz
One of my personal favourites and a cornerstone of St. Moritz’s history. This is where the story of winter tourism in Switzerland began. I love its spectacular spa overlooking the Alps and the Kulm Country Club restaurant by Argentine chef Mauro Colagreco.
Suvretta House
A true alpine classic. With its Belle Époque charm and fairytale castle-like architecture, Suvretta House is the only ski-in, ski-out hotel in St. Moritz and one of the most elegant places to stop for afternoon tea.
Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski
A more contemporary option with direct access to the ski lifts and a modern take on alpine luxury.

Via Serlas is one of Europe’s most exclusive shopping streets, home to brands such as Cartier, Bvlgari, Loro Piana, and Moncler.
Think of it as St. Moritz’s version of Avenue Montaigne in Paris or Bond Street in London.
Why I Keep Coming Back
What I love most about St. Moritz is that it effortlessly combines two worlds that rarely coexist so well: the breathtaking beauty of the Alps and a sophisticated yet relaxed social scene.
I’ve returned many times over the years, creating some of my favourite memories here, especially in December, which is my birthday month and, without fail, my favourite time to celebrate in St. Moritz.
