What makes Puglia different from the Amalfi Coast, Sicily, or Ibiza?
If the Amalfi Coast is the star of the Italian summer, Puglia is its cooler cousin: less crowded, more relaxed, incredibly photogenic, and filled with whitewashed villages, amazing food, turquoise water, and endless beach clubs. It’s the perfect region to explore by car, moving at your own pace between coastal towns, olive groves, and long lunches that somehow turn into sunset aperitivos.
A big part of Puglia’s charm lies in its masserie, historic farm estates surrounded by centuries-old olive trees that have been beautifully transformed into some of Italy’s most stunning boutique hotels. Whether you stay overnight or simply stop for lunch, experiencing a masseria is a must.

Polignano a Mare
The postcard of Puglia. White houses perched on limestone cliffs above impossibly turquoise water. Golden hour here is magical, especially from the Roman bridge overlooking Lama Monachile.
Ostuni
Known as the White City, Ostuni rises above the countryside in a sea of limestone buildings that glow beautifully at sunset.
Alberobello
Straight out of a fairytale. Its iconic trulli (traditional stone houses with cone-shaped roofs) are unique in the world and have earned UNESCO World Heritage status.
Monopoli
A charming old harbor filled with blue fishing boats, ancient walls, and some of the prettiest light in the region.
Locorotondo
One of the most beautiful villages in the Itria Valley, with flower-filled streets, whitewashed homes, and colorful balconies.

Probably the most photographed restaurant in Puglia, built inside a sea cave overlooking the Adriatic. I wouldn’t necessarily come for the food alone—I’d come for the experience.

What I loved most about Puglia was its pace. Long shared tables, sleepy villages, beach afternoons, spontaneous road trips, and Aperol stretching from sunset well into the evening. A simpler, slower, and wonderfully authentic version of the Italian summer.
